Happy Chinese New Year. Today is January 23rd. Already. Four days in Paris have come and gone so quickly, and with that, so much inspiration, from seeing old friends, revisiting old places, from strolling through the streets, the light, the architecture, sounds of voices from the table next to ours, my clog boots clippity clopping up and down 6 flights of wooden stairs, accordeons playing in the metro, des librairies fantastiques, with expensive books that I just had to have, a bit of work, a bit of play, to noisy neighbours playing loud music all night, French cinema, French humour and intellect, musical preludes some opera, some jazz, miles of walking, always a march or protest in the streets, the impossibility of finding a taxi, being stuck behind a bin lory when you do, heartfelt conversations, cigarette smoke and chandeliers, a shoulder to cry on, delicious food, and a bad cheeseburger at the Louvre restaurant, paying for the view only obviously, Mexican beer, photos taken on all of our mobile phones, same old same old, then something new, small surprises, old encounters, my partner telling me to go bed. Good night Hitchin. See you in Paris in 40 winks. Bonne nuit Paris. Je t'aime. Patati patata.

AT ROSITA LOLLIPOP WE’RE UP TO ALL SORTS!

Autumn is finally here. The winter stock is steadily trickling in. As a treat to our valued customers, we’re clearing sunglasses at £3.50 – a whopping £5 OFF! Also, some gorgeously knit reindeer scarves have been unleashed from a parcel earlier this week. The shop is very buzzy, and that keeps me very busy. Boxes seem to forever be arriving, and I seem to forever be unpacking and stacking shelves. It’s actually a bit like Christmas every day already. It’s a full shop alright (could be doing with a bigger space!). Please be kind and ignore the corners of “stuff” that need more of my undivided attention.

As the new arrivals give the shop a winter lift and shift, some things never change, i.e. me being late for work every morning! So if you’re going to stop by on a day when I actually am open (remembering the store is closed Sunday, Monday and Wednesday – hey, remember when I used to be shut on a Thursday as well – so things are looking up!) opening hours, although stated everywhere as being 10-5pm, are actually a little more like 10.30 -ish to 5pm / 5.30ish (on a good day!). We are so continental in our ways at Rosita Lollipop.

So yes, we’re up to all sorts. And did I mention that the geeky jumpers are back in stock! We have some new designs this year that will have you flocking to the queue outside the shop on a Saturday afternoon.
